Kate Fraser's work is concerned with the everyday aspects of the manmade landscape, the spaces and buildings of urban life, from small public buildings to large industrial complexes. Built to be functional rather than picturesque these places are often over-looked or taken for granted.

Through the making of the artworks, the buildings depicted develop a character of their own and are embued with the artist's own memories and associations connected with the time and place in which they were created. They become containers for projected emotions, representing loss, grief, expansiveness, pathos or joy.
